Early Childhood

Elementary
- TAG, Title I, Special Education programs, and Student Assistance Team are available to meet the needs of all students.
- Students have learning opportunities, at least 2 times each week, in a new and continuously updated computer lab.
- Curriculum is updated yearly by our experienced teachers with guidance from Area Education Professionals.
- Students experience learning through direct teaching, hands-on projects, experiment, learning centers, small groups, and visuals.
- Teachers are trained how to best meet the developmental needs of elementary age children.
- Along with academics, students are exposed to keyboarding, art, music, physical education, and library experiences.
- Classroom guidance activities teach children social skills and how to get along with others.
IKM-Manning Middle School
- Wolf Pack time is designed to assist middle school students and teachers in developing a positive school climate across grade levels. The goal of this program is to develop and fine-tune skills that may be used by students in classroom and community settings. Activities promote student success, build confidence, build positive teacher/student rapport, and teach social skills, like using good manners and showing respect for self and others.
- Students have access to state-of-the-art computer lab.
- Students experience learning through hands-on instruction and authentic assessment.
- Interscholastic academic and athletic programs are available for students in seventh and eighth grades.
- Students participate in academic competitions--math competitions and science bowl.
- Guidance services are available to assist students with study skills, organization skills, goal setting, and general problem solving.
- 5-8 students demonstrate decision-making skills by serving on Student Council.
- Average class size is 22 students.
- Students participate in exploratory classes--art, Music, computers, World of Work I and II, and family consumer science.
- Students are involved in band, chorus, honor bands, honor choirs and National Junior Honor Society.

IKM-Manning High School
- Nearly 95% of the IKM-Manning students are involved in extracurricular activities including athletics, fine arts, vocational competitions, student government, speech contest, musicals and community service organizations.
- Opportunities for college credit through Des Moines Area Community College and Western Iowa Tech (Denison Campus) as well as on campus opportunities at the aforementioned schools and Des Moines Area Community College (Carroll Campus) through the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Act. Numerous career exploration/vocational opportunities through the Denison Vocational Consortium/Western Iowa Tech which include the following: auto collision repair technology, automotive technology, construction trades, electronics technology, health occupations, introduction to early childhood education, mechanical engineering technology and welding.
- Tech Prep courses with curriculum competencies coordinated with Iowa Western Community College which includes child care, agribusiness/farm management, secretary, administrative and medical Administrative secretary.
- Integrated Mathematics Program: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, practical applications, and Pascal.
- Opportunities for all students to use technology.
- Academic assistance through Special Education, Alternative Classroom Tutorial, Peer Helpers, Child Study Team, and Student Assistance Team.
